The topic for discussion was taken from a face book post on the Lesbian Open House page where someone asked “Are there any authentic women out there or are they all just players?” A question that created a lot of discussion on face book and we had a very interesting discussion about it too. Comments were: “it depends how you define game players, just as many authentic women as there ever have been, people that run hot and cold can be really hurtful – one moment they’re super friendly and the next they don’t want to know you, various groups can be cliquey, I find bush walking and cycling groups really friendly, people who flirt don’t mean to take it anywhere, you presume people are like you but they might be coming from completely different points of view – what you see as flirty they might just think of as friendly, no patience for any game players, are they really trying to put you down to make themselves feel better, if you decide that they’re doing something nasty because they’re having a bad time you can leave that nastiness with them and not get affected by it”.
Join us next Tuesday at 7pm at the Women's Library, 10 Brown St, Newtown, Sydney for the next Sydney Lesbian Open House meeting.
