The question for Tuesdays discussion (12 May 2015) was about your take on the Sydney lesbian scene.
Our views were: “Sydney is very friendly where Adelaide was cliquey, Sydney is not very friendly and a Sydney invitation to coffee is only there if there is nothing better offered, bars are not good places to meet people, I felt like I was the last mammoth looking to meet other mammoths, the scene is too fast, if you split up with a partner everyone is harmed in the fall out, it’s easier in the UK or USA, hard when you don’t play cricket or soccer, very hard when you don’t look like a stereotypical lesbian, Lemons is good, like doing things by myself, Bi-curious meet up group is good, Pink Sofa, sports groups make it easier to meet people, the gay and lesbian choir, being a Frocks groupie, meeting people over the internet or through social media is good, in Sydney the gay and lesbian scenes are quite separate, it’s a patchwork of groups such as butch-femme, the Victoria room arties, Red Rattler; Armidale was only about 500 people but very separate, need to support new groups because if you don’t they won’t be there when you need them.
