That was the topic for discussion last Tuesday 7 July 2015. Thank you to the lovely Eliza for facilitating for the very first time the other night and asking

the question: “What do you like about Open House and what would you like to contribute to it?” At which there was an embarrassed pause. No really. The responses were – “it takes a village to raise a lesbian, it’s useful to get information and get varying points of view, will continue as the self-appointed Director of Social Activities (DSA), meet a lot of different people, keep coming, I like going to the pub, nice to be able to drop in, interesting to hear different stories, like the drinks and dinner beforehand, I refer people to Open House, other experiences in the lesbian scene haven’t been that welcoming, made a lot of friends, always come up with a topic, meet nice new people, introduce people here, learn not to judge, 90% of the friends I have I met have been through Open House, meet most amazing people, meet people that initially you think you wouldn’t get on with and then find you really like them, questions can really get you thinking, met someone to do the ‘Bloody Long Walk’ with, love that it’s always the same whenever you drop in, questions prompt self-reflection, one of the few women’s only spaces for discussion, you can talk to people without shouting.” Thanks to Eliza for running the show and a good topic.
